Title: Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire
Author: Jen Hatmaker
Release Date: April 21st, 2020
Publisher: Thoman Nelson
Synopsis:
New York Times bestselling author Jen Hatmaker, with cheeky candor and fearlessness, guides readers to a deep dive into how they are wired and provides them with the tools to walk in that identity with freedom and guts.
Stuck in people-pleasing or fear, many women hide and pretend, then end up sidelined in their own lives. But what they want is to be brave, to claim every gift, dream, quirk, and emotion inside, to stop performing and start living.
Beloved New York Times bestselling author Jen Hatmaker understands the struggle to find firm footing in a culture that operates from stereotypes and often unreachable expectations. In this new book, she offers women encouragement, challenge, and humor as she helps them identify everything that makes them tick and gain the confidence to live it all out. She leads them through five self-reflective categories—who I am, what I need, what I want, what I believe, and how I connect—and helps them:
identify the exact ways they pretend, and learn instead how to be genuine at all times, in all ways, in all contexts;
be empowered to say yes and no without guilt;
learn to voice both their spiritual questions and convictions; and
opt out of drama and into healthy adult relationships.
With wry humor, earnest passion, and been-there insight, Jen calls women to the life-giving freedom of leaning into the identity, convictions, and community they’ve been given.
My Review:
Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire is a bold and inspirational book that every woman can relate to. Jen Hatmaker’s writing is authentic and it really helps to get her point across without being ‘preachy’. This book is all about finding out what we want, why we want it, and what has been holding us back.
This is my first time reading one of Jen’s books and I loved her attitude. She is open and honest because she wants everyone to grow and follow their path. She is the perfect example of women supporting women. I learned more about her spirituality and how that has played a role in her personal and professional life. I am a Christian and can understand why she felt certain ways. For example, I feel like I can’t say no because if I don’t then that would be too mean. She helped me realize that it isn’t healthy to always say yes. Saying no is okay and no woman should feel guilty about it.
I truly loved reading this book because it’s so enlightening. It felt like Jen was a friend and she was going to do her best to use her experiences to help me so that I wouldn’t have to feel the lows she felt. It is so rare to see someone tell their struggles so that you don’t make the same mistakes. I appreciate her honesty and kindness. I know that she went through it because no one gave her the guide on how to handle certain situations. She is paving the way for so many!
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I give Fierce, Full, and Full of Fire 5 stars. Jen Hatmaker gives us strategies to live life and have the confidence to go after our dreams no matter how large they may be. I’m inspired, motivated, and impressed.
